TRAINING AND ACTIVATION

TRAINING AND ACTIVATION Although Investigator interest and expertise are paramount to patient accrual success, they do not guarantee timely protocol participation. Clinical trials often must pass through a series of scientific, administrative and/or regulatory gateways prior to local activation, especially if the sponsor has targeted academic institutions with their own local IRBs. Accrual Solutions accelerates this process through hands-on stewardship at every step in the process. We work with the sponsor to ensure that local activation occurs as quickly as possible. We identify each gateway to activation, engage the appropriate resources in regular dialogue, and ensure that the time required to reach final IRB approval is kept to an absolute minimum. And we work diligently to overcome any logistical barriers to get each site up-to-speed and fully participating as rapidly as the process will allow. TRAINING Once the right study sites and Investigators have been approved for protocol participation, the local research team requires an appropriate level of protocol-specific training. Traditionally, clinical trials training has often been accomplished through centralized kick-off meetings bringing together Investigators at great expense. While these gatherings can serve a purpose, Accrual Solutions can deliver the same (or better) results at a fraction of the cost, in a much timelier manner. Our proprietary Clinical Trials University (CTU) solution is a web-based tool that allows Investigators to receive training on their own schedule, without travel, at greatly reduced cost. CTU also provides greater control over messaging, which can be delivered through audio, video, in-depth text with supporting links, and forum interaction. CTU training often includes online exams to ensure that Investigators truly understand all the details of the clinical trial protocol. CTU greatly enhances training of support personnel including nurses and others who are not typically invited to live events. CTU also provides an easy path for updating training and relaying additional information to all participants as a study progresses. ONGOING SUPPORT, COMMUNICATION & AWARENESS
Beginning at the earliest stages of local protocol activation and running through the end of patient recruitment, Accrual Solutions maintains regular phone and email contact, and can conduct in-person site visits to keep our clients’ research top-of-mind. We use online tools, including emails, Clinical Trials University, newsletters and other tools to maintain interest and drive activity throughout the study lifecycle — often over a period of years. We’re always there to make sure that questions can be answered right away, and that all participants — Investigators, staff and patients — fully understand what needs to be done to keep the study on-track. This combination of hands-on stewardship and the latest technology ensures that our clients’ studies are completed in the most timely and cost-effective manner possible.
